A buckwheat pillow. What’s the point of sleeping on natural pillows?

The past few months have been very intense – partly because we want to consistently expand our offer with products that support an environmentally friendly approach to shopping and consumerism in the broadest sense. In addition to the outlet, which is in high demand, and linen toys – a pillow with buckwheat filling was added to the offer some time ago. It was also the inspiration for the following post, in which we tell you why the natural filling is safer and more comfortable, what are the properties of the buckwheat pillow and what it helps with.

BUCKWHEAT – WHAT IS IT?

But let’s start over. Buckwheat is a genus of nodules. Today there are 15 plant species like that growing mainly in Europe and Asia. Naturally, the most common ones occur mainly in mountain regions, meadows, and on bare ground also as weeds. Of course, it is not only an edible plant (used as buckwheat), but is also used in herbal medicine and beekeeping. This is mainly due to the health-promoting properties that were already known in the 15th century. Interestingly, the first discovery took place more than 5000 years ago in northern India, where it was referred to as the “Arabic Seed. What do you think are the properties of the buckwheat pillow?

PROPERTIES OF BUCKWHEAT PILLOW

Buckwheat is a very inconspicuous grain that, in addition to valuable nutritional properties, also has healing and health-promoting properties. All this is thanks to the amino acids that promote the reduction of cholesterol in the blood. In addition, you will find fiber there that favors people with atherosclerosis or recurrent constipation. In addition, buckwheat is free of the gluten fraction, which can wreak havoc in the body, especially in celiac patients. Buckwheat has an equally low presence of complex carbohydrates, so the consumption of buckwheat does not lead to an increase in insulin (and thus – does not cause major problems with blood sugar).

This natural raw material is also an excellent alternative to artificial materials, which are (unfortunately) increasingly used in the textile industry. That’s why we decided to use them as a filling that doesn’t trigger allergies. In addition, the pillow adapts to the body, reducing the risk of back pain (especially of the cervical spine).

WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE NATURAL PILLOWS?

Do you know what it feels like when you wake up and feel the tension in your shoulder blades? How many times did you wake up in the summer because it was hot anD you had an unpleasant feeling on your face?

These situations inspired us to provide linen pillowcases with a natural buckwheat filling that has an anti-allergic effect. This reduces the risk of asthma and upper respiratory tract diseases. Among other reasons, buckwheat has been used for years as an alternative to feathers, which we also find in the filling of duvets, pillows, or mattresses.

Buckwheat prevents the growth of mites, which can lead to hay fever, conjunctivitis, dry cough, or rash.

It is important that buckwheat performs a pleasant micro-massage due to its loose, fine form, which will relieve tension in the neck area and thus minimize the risk of migraine. In addition, the cushion has a heat-regulating effect – i. e. it does not warm up in summer and instead gives a pleasantly cool feeling. Don’t forget that the natural filling absorbs moisture, but the inside remains dry and cool. This gives you both a pleasant feeling of warmth (in winter) and a calming cool feeling (in summer). The result is deep, calm, and uninterrupted sleep.
