The Institute of Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences also points out that plastic fragmentation, which is caused by mechanical and biochemical factors, results in the emission of microplastics, the particles of which then migrate out of the river environment – for example, in living organisms. Thus, one decision involves an avalanche of subsequent, extremely negative ones.
