Why is linen good for summer?

The smell of lilacs, long days, increasingly warmer nights – finally the long-awaited summer arrives. For so linen! it will be an exceptional time, because for the first time in history, in addition to linen home accessories, there are. . . linen clothes! We do not hide the fact that the inspiration for their creation was mainly the summer months, during which we so willingly choose natural fibers. Why is flax good for summer?

WHY IS LINEN GOOD FOR SUMMER? LINEN COOLS – EVEN WHEN IT’S HOT OUTSIDE!

Why is linen good for summer? Many times on our blog we have said that linen has cooling properties. This magical ability results directly from the naturalness of these fibers. But before we explain what we mean – let’s try to imagine a certain situation together.

It’s summer, the sky’s hot. You walk down a city street with no shade, and your shoulders are covered by a polyester shirt. Over time, you begin to feel not only an increasing temperature, but also unpleasant skin moisture, viscosity and in extreme cases – pain, arising from irritation. This unpleasant feeling is due to the lack of breathability and low hygroscopicity of synthetic materials. This is when we say that the material has no cooling properties.

Linen dress for summer provides excellent hygroscopicity – i. e. drains water from the surface of the skin, and at the same time allows you to maintain optimal body temperature. So it acts as a kind of barrier against UV rays, allows air to pass through and dissipates temperature to the outside. As a result, the leather breathes, retains its functions, and the delicate fabric provides a pleasant feeling of freshness and comfort.

LINEN DRIES QUICKLY AND ABSORBS MOISTURE

Both of these properties are particularly valuable during holidays by the sea or near the blue ocean. Instant drying means you can reassemble your favourite dress in no time without worrying it won’t dry in time. In addition, the rapid moisture dissipation reduces the risk of thermal shock that can occur when leaving an air-conditioned office. Every owner of a linen kitchen towel or linen towel, which is alsorecommendedfor summer trips, has become convinced of its extraordinary ability to absorb moisture.

For comparison, clothes with an admixture of polyester or elastane form a barrier that retains moisture on the inside. As a result of this phenomenon, the skin begins to struggle not only with high temperature, but also sweat, which makes an unpleasant feeling of viscosity. While this property may be useful during the production of rain jackets, it will not work at all during the heat.

WHAT SHIRT FOR THE HEAT? THE ONE THAT DOES NOT LET THROUGH HARMFUL UV RAYS!

UV rays are extremely harmful to our skin, for example by stimulating melanocytes to produce melanin. This process is a defensive reaction, as melanin has the ability to absorb radiation, causing a tan. So it is wrong to think that a tan looks “healthy” – in fact it is a kind of disorder that can lead to burns, allergies, in extreme cases – the formation of benign or malignant skin tumors.

As one of the few fabrics on the market, linen is not only delicate and airy, but also – it is a solid barrier to UV rays. What is crucial – exposing it to the sun does not damage the fibers, which only proves that linen clothes are among the most robust and durable.

While nylon or polyester will also not pass through the rays, it will not allow for free air circulation. These fibers do not compromise – the created barrier takes place at the expense of your comfort and health.
