Linen clothing is a must-have in your holiday suitcase. Whether you’re planning lazy days at the beach, active exploration of new spots or romantic dinners at starry night, you can’t forget to take a linen shirt or dress. In order to extend this year’s holiday season, we’re coming up with a truly summery post that will inspire you to test out linen on your own skin (literally!).

Choose linen

Nothing cools like linen! Thanks to its magnificent breathability that helps maintain a comfortable body temperature even on the hottest days. Linen allows the skin to breathe, enabling all thermoregulatory processes, preventing overheating, and above all, allowing sweat glands to function properly.

Linen allows the skin to breathe, enabling all thermoregulatory processes, preventing overheating, and above all, allowing sweat glands to function properly.

Furthermore, linen can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp that helps to inhibit excessive sweating. This property keeps your linen clothes dry and you can feel comfortable even after walking for hours along city streets or the beach.

Does linen protect against UV radiation?

Yes! Linen fabrics are characterised by a dense weave of fibres that makes them effective at blocking UV rays. The level of protection depends on the thickness and density of the fabric – the thicker and denser the linen, the better the UV protection. Prolonged exposure (especially to UVB rays) can lead to sunburn, accelerated skin ageing and also increases the risk of skin cancer, including melanoma. UVA rays, on the other hand, penetrate deeper into the skin and can therefore cause permanent damage to collagen fibres, leading to a loss of skin elasticity and the formation of wrinkles.

No worries about creasing!

How many times have you pulled your holiday clothes out of your suitcase and clutched your head in astonishment to see the crumpled cuffs? Well, well. But what if you took with you clothes that are famous for their natural creases that used to be a symbol of prestige?

That’s exactly what linen is. Characteristically creased, durable and resilient, so as a result it can be successfully dried in the sun or with a steamer. Nevertheless, we encourage you to cherish those imperfections – all in all, it is nature!

What is more, linen clothes are eminently practical for travelling. Their lightness and quick-drying abilities make them an excellent choice for holiday adventuress, whether to the beach, by the pool or on an active trip in the mountains or deserts. Linen is also a material that does not absorb odours which means that linen clothes stay fresh for longer – even during lengthy coach or train journeys.
