HOW TO WASH LINEN BEDDING?

Whether its a sheet, duvet cover or pillowcase linen washing does not cause damage to the fiber or weave. Moreover, for the correct washing of the fabric we do not need a specialized, expensive laundry machine all the care activities you can do in the comfort of your own home.

So if you plan to do your first linen laundry, read the 5 tips below that are based on your questions, which are often asked on our instagram.

Tip I: Avoid mechanical washing. If you have the option to wash linen fabrics by hand choose this option. However, when you decide to machine wash, choose the most delicate program.

Tip II: Wash linen in cool water – maximum of 30°C or 40°C. Higer temperature may cause the fabric to shrink slightly (up to 10%), which is especially significant in the case of linen curtains or bedsheets.

Tip III: Avoid strong, chemical detergents. Firstly, their use is extremely harmful to our planet, and regular use of such invasive products negatively affects the state of Polish waters. Secondly some chemicals can cause discoloration of the fabric.

Also, remember that fabric softeners are dedicated for synthetic materials ! Do not use them when you are washing linen products!

Tip IV: Avoid the tumble dryer using it too often, can cause the fabric to shrink. Air drying will work much better. For example on a string suspended on a balcony or terrace. Fresh air will not only add a pleasant smell that will wrap us up to sleep, but will also loosen the texture of the material. Remember that linen does not like to be over – dried. As a result of such action, the fabric becomes more brittle and less durable.

Tip V: You know that we love this natural crease effect, so we always recommend you to avoid classic ironing. Crease is one of the most unique and expressive features of linen . That is why it is so often used in rustic arrangements. However, if you prefer a smooth and elegant effect iron linen bedding only when it is damp.
