How do you wash a linen blanket? See how to take care of a natural fabric.

This year we have expanded our offer with a range of new linen products. At the top of this most popular and versatile is a linen blanket with padding that was created for mild summer nights – mainly to replace a heavy duvet. In addition, by laying it out on the sofa or bed you get protection from dog hair, dust, cat’s paws, and spilled coffee. When we announced on our social media channels the arrival of the linen blanket for the couch, questions arose about how to wash it. As always, you are our inspiration and that’s why we decided to create a blog post that will dispel all your doubts.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT OUR LINEN BLANKETS

Before going into the question of how to wash a linen blanket, let’s move on to the care tips, let’s introduce you to our blanket range, which has been extended with new models. We were inspired not only by interior trends but also by usefulness and functionality. Our goal was to create a product that not only wrapped up your bedding or couch but could be also used for a picnic – as an alternative to a blanket – or as a duvet. This proves that the bedspread does not have to be artificial and unaesthetic. Our suggestions are a combination of natural fibers, wonderful properties, durability, and beautiful colors that adorn many romantic bedrooms or modern living rooms.

In so linen! we have prepared:

  • Classic linen blankets lightweight and minimalist. In addition to simple models, we also offer pieces with fringes that we braid by hand.
  • Quilts slightly heavier and more solid in shape. They are sewn from soft stonewashed flax and filled with natural and breathable hemp fleece.

Couch covers ideal as a cover for an unsightly couch or as a protection against dirt. They are available in a minimalist color scheme as well as in a strong, deep green (eucalyptus green) and a subtle blue (dusty blue).

HOW TO WASH A LINEN BLANKET?

We know that linen blankets have to be washed and dried more often because of their use. That’s why we use not only natural fibers but also a lot of love and care, thanks to which you can enjoy your beautiful linen products for many years.

When washing the duvet you have to observe some basic rules. It is not true that you can only wash it by hand (this myth appears surprisingly often) – in fact, you benefit from a gentle wash cycle. Make sure the blanket can move freely when you insert it into the drum of the washing machine. Don’t crush it, don’t squeeze it, don’t roll it into a ball. Do not wring it out after washing and avoid mechanical spinning, which may shrink the fibers. A cord on the balcony or a classic dryer on which a wet cloth is spread works much better.

Pay attention to strong detergents and chemicals. These – especially containing bleach – may be too strong for natural fibers, which can be easily discolored. Softeners that coat the fibers are also not advisable – they are much better suited for synthetic textiles. Instead, use natural and mild products – e.g. based on harmless detergents.

You can iron the linen fabric (preferably if it is still slightly damp), although we encourage you to love this natural and unique crease. After all, thanks to it, you know that you are wrapped in real and precious linen!
